the shanklin sessions came out of the shanklin road studio that andy sims shared with one of his partners from soft rocks, bobby coulman. acid jan started its life as a jan hammer edit that andy was doing for one of soft rocks disco powerplay releases. there were a few parts that never made the final cut, but were too good to leave, so andy got friend jaime read in to jam with the left over bits, and from that acid jan was born (none of the jans original parts made it to this finished re-incarnation). acid jan found it s way onto cynic label boss felixs usb and subsequently was played at every festival/club that felix played for about a year. when andy heard felix playing it at alfresco festival in 2016, they decided to release it on cynic. in search of a b side for the release, andy dug out the other dat s from the session acid jan was recorded at, and found sitars over shanklin, a suitably oddball track to grace the other side. a little piece of chicago via india recorded in brighton.

the 80s italo disco /proto-house classic ‘mbo theme’ by the mighty klein & mbo, repressed! comes with an heavy (and unheard) south african version on the flip. huge tip! the mbo theme (1983) has been a dance floor favorite since decades, created by mario boncaldo and tony carrasco - the legendary italian/us duo klein & mbo. the track got support in nyc and chicago by greats as larry levan, frankie knuckles and ron hardy.
the rare version on the flip is created by a south-african band called warrior. rush hour explain how they came across the track: “we bumped into this version on a south african record digging trip. it took us a few months to realize the scarcity of this version. ian osrin, a well respected engineer in south-africa who was involved in many 80ties and 90ties bubblegum, kwaito and south african disco records, explained us about music distribution in south africa during apartheid.

melbourne-based producer amin payne has adopted his teymori alias to explore a distinctive take on house music. the six track debut ep features a host of melbournes finest musicians including blasko (billy davis), silentjay (hiatus kaiyote/sampa the great) & horatio luna (30/70) to name a few. limited edition pressing of 400 copies with full colour cover and labels.

apollonia music unveils its latest release, which comes straight out of dan ghenacia s lab. the fresh new ep is amusingly titled the egg after his son, who was born just a few months ago, and sees dan bringing together three productions with different styles and flavours, each with an egg-related track name. it s been a while since monsieur ghenacia appeared on apollonia s label, but this ep is definitely worth the wait... on side a it s o&#776,,,, la coque (boiled egg), aptly-titled with its aquatic low end percolating and bubbling away. quirky effects keep things interesting throughout, adding depth and movement... then we get a killer riff which lifts the vibes higher. once that disappears a mysterious set of chimes arises from the deep adding a mystical feel to the track before it continues on with its bubbly groove. flip the record over and side b kicks off with mykonos huevos , which boasts hard-hitting percussion and a sublime b-line designed to get those hips moving with a sensual rhythm. the insistent, dramatic atmosphere is relentless and this is one of those cuts that will captivate the dance floor when it s dropped. lastly, we have sunny side up which rounds off the ep nicely, bringing that sunday after hours vibe you ll find at dan s party godeep. this one has a heady vibe with a hypnotic main riff and secondary piano riff that complements it perfectly. the beats are crisp, the low end warm and soothing which, combined with progressively trippy atmospherics, envelopes you and transports you to a better place, way beyond the stars. ... and there it is, a thoroughly eggscelent ep from dan ghenacia, courtesy of apollonia music

a stalwart of the uk underground & dance music scene, simbad’s music and dj skills have brought him to perform and record on all of the continents over the last decade. as a very sought after producer that still collaborates with the likes of fred p, deetron, roots manuva, lulu james, dayme arocena, mala (dmz), gilles peterson (six albums produced for gilles legendary brownswood label) to name a few, he’s been also remixing for countless other artists worldwide and has a vast array of releases on various imprints like apron, hyperdub, sofrito, bbe etc. “reconnect” remained a dubplate amongst a handful broken beat dj’s for years until simbad decided to release it on swedish brandy productions, a label that has been fairly constant in putting out timeless underground dance music since nearly two decades. remixes by the mighty boddhi sattva and concept e25 included.

2019 repress - sintope bosses ntfo return to bondage music this may to deliver a combination of digital and vinyl only productions in the form of their esperantza ep. following an impressive break through year in 2009, romanian duo dani and robert aka ntfo have since gone on to carve out an impressive resume within the world of house, with a series of releases on 20/20 vision, objektivity, diynamic and jargon making up a notable back catalogue. owners of their own sintope imprint, releasing material from themselves alongside the likes of revered parisian djebali and fellow romanian rhadow, the duo have garnered stand out support from ryan crosson, cinthie, vinyl speed adjust and arapu to name just a few, and having recently featured on the labels bondage games compilation in january, here we see the duo deliver a fresh four track ep that s set to become a favourite of many in the months ahead. title cut esperantza sees the duo go to work, fusing rolling, crisp percussion with rich sub-bass, before uppercut interjects, unveiling a production packed full of swing, reinforced by robust drum licks, skipping hats and sweeping synths. on the flip, the first vinyl only cut lux reveals a smooth, stripped back effort, with lush, deep pads floating effortlessly over hazy background textures, whilst the electro influenced avoid closing things out in fine fashion, as trickling lead lines flow amongst and intricate organic percussion patterns across seven minutes

eighteen: the year of release, 2018. eighteen: the age at which i first used a synthesizer. in creating eighteen i worked independently in the studio, initially building up tracks with synthesizers and found sounds recorded in my daily comings and goings. after working with the tracks over a period of months, i shared them with a few musicians, who added their own instrumental layers. though working independently, we all shared a similar working process: working in our personal recording spaces, as opposed to larger recording studios.

wire parasitism ep is inspired by the electronic music which was produced during the end of the 80s and beginning of the 90s by the likes of richard h. kirk, psychic tv, coil, dave campbell or lagowski (to name a few). walid el barbir uses his unique producing & sampling skills to create contemporary and industrial sounding compositions out of found footage like occult documentaries, rave stabs or emax sound-libraries. walid el barbir is a part of the collective les points based in zürich, switzerland. his art/music draws from 90s rave utopias, occultism, progressive & accessible frameworks as showcased at their offspace mikro - a physical room which has no doors and opening times during exhibitions and raves - making an institution available to all social layers.

originally released in 1986 under luis delgado s cult imprint -el cometa de madrid- produced by luis delgado (finnis africae, mecánica popular) and performed by patricia escudero, this beautiful record dives into erik satie s compositional work thru an experimental optic. entirely recorded on synthesizers, and making heavy use of fx and timbral manipulation, this recording brings out a satie that s never heard before. additional info: -this record was remastered and cut from the original tapes. however, those tapes were highly affected for what is known as the sticky shed syndrome, and were very deteriorated. even though that was professionally taken care of, it was a very long process to get a result that exceeded our standards to be pressed. that being said, there are very few parts were you might find an slight change on sound that was impossible to eliminate completely, due to the above mentioned issu

coming next from adult only: the repress of one of the most sought-after 12s from the label back catalogue. ao19: “formula express – main course” was originally released in 2002 and featured guillaume la tortue, jef k and chris carrier.
this is actually some of the last records ever produced by the mysterious guillaume la tortue, one of the pioneer of electronic music in france, who’s quoted by laurent garnier in his infamous “electrochoc” book as one of his main influence back in the days.

the record opens on the “main course”: a classic tech-house number with a beautiful 909 beat and a tasteful use of various samples and fx all through the track. the funky vocals still sound fresh today but the secret here (as often with chris carrier’s related work) is the groove – the kind of groove that reminds you summer days in the park while the strong bass-line announces already the next track.
on the flip, “starter” stands out as the perfect dancefloor killer with an infernal groove and a real fat analog bass-line that will keep you moving whether you want it or not. add just a few crispy tribal percussions on a classic raw 909 beat and you got the simplest and dubbiest song of the record but also the most efficient dancefloorwise.
the last cut, “apple pie”, might be the deepest of them all. spacy melodies and trippy vocals in the background make you first feel like you’re chillin on some extraterrestrial beach far away from earth. it starts as a nice breakbeat building the atmosphere before slowly evolving into a more 4-4esque tech-house with the bass coming in only after a couple of minutes. even if the sound was resolutely analogic, the whole ep is extremely well produced with a special care for details. at many levels this three-track ep is a landmark in the label history.

the dark lord himself has been creating a big stir in both the hardcore and drum & bass scene these last few years. his productions have completely destroyed dance floors all across the globe and to add to that this beast man has undisputedly won the loudness war.

ltd repress! for their first afro-brazilian compilation the german jazz & milk label teamed up with tahira, one of sao paulo s most active djs andmusiccollectors. levanta poeira (afro-brazilian music & rhythms from 1976 - 2016) highlights a few of his favourite dj pearls and encompasses brazil s various regional musical styles influenced by african and amerindian forms. while most foreign music lovers tend to approach brazilian music by having american music genres such as jazz, soul, funk, disco as a reference, tahira s personal wish was to showcase the rich musical roots and facets of his country by featuring carefully selected artists and bands from the past 4 decades. most of these tracks will be made available on vinyl for the very first time with a highlight certainly being tahira s -a toda menina baiana- remix (vinyl-only) of one of brazil s absolute musical heroes, gilberto gil.

* big, bad and heavy! two of pinch’s biggest dance floor bangers, remixed by one of uk dubstep’s hardest hitters, kromestar. guaranteed rewinds. * ‘the boxer’ first appeared on tectonic back in 2010, fusing grime and dubstep with tribal drums and tearing squarewave bass. kromestar stays true to the original but switches his stance to swing hard with a left hook, southpaw style. after a moody build up, the intro breaks away into a brief moment of calm, before bass comes out fighting, throwing knock out punches hard and fast. tried and tested dancefloor damage of the highest order. * flip then for an equally dangerous remix of pinch’s deep medi release ‘swish’, from back in 2011. simple, effective and deadly, kromestar gives this classic an update, setting it up for another few years of wheel-ups

the next installment in cold diamond & mink’s soul investigations introduces a three part harmony group from california. “my my my baby” is a smoking hot group harmony groover that should drop a few jaws at your next dj set. thee baby cuffs was born out of love for soul music and chicano culture. their first 45 “where did our pride go”, came out in 2017 on the raza del soul label, covering an unsung early 70’s larry saunders production. “my my my baby” continues on the same lane of midtempo soul over funky drums and soulful horn lines. the lyric is your middle of the road love song material, but the group harmony lifts it right off the ground like it’s meant to happen in this kind of music. get a few copies and rock the instrumental on the b-side before dropping the vocal, if you feel like it. soul music that’s this potent is better enjoyed in excess.

for this new release, the french uk am-bass-ador comes back with a 5-tracker ep, on the infamous imprint brothers from different mothers, expanding a bit more his tempo range with few special riddims. influenced by dancehall music this ep collects five party-oriented moods and interpretations of the genre with simo cell’s signature and sound design skills.

after a few years on hiatus, one electronica has gone all out in with a heavy debut 4 tracker from new member thought camera. the young belfast born producer who has been very busy in the studio putting together an arsenal of electronic weapons has also enjoyed an increase in popularity and profile in the local scene due to his hard work and commitment to the cause. with such a strong release about to drop in the next few weeks and with more unreleased material on its way this guy is worth keeping an eye on as a rising talent. without using too many bullshit analogies – this is release is simply dancefloor bliss and a djs dream that will be keep at the front of a record box for years to come and could be a favourite among various styles. the title track astral pilot comes in strong with spatial glitchy electronic chatter and tubular echoes that are pretty damn haunting. headspace comes in on a2 which is the antithesis of serenity and meditation that the name suggests. this acidic jack track is upbeat and laden with bass bleeding all over the place. flip it over and you have lifeforms on the b1 which is the most technical track on the release which ebbs and flows between solemn and sombre leaving you emotionally twisted yet intrigued this is one to look out for! obsession which aptly depicts this track a stalker in the night, haunting, imposing, friday 13th shit. not for the faint hearted.
